The Role

Electrical Engineering within the Power Electronics team requires and offers a very high level of collaboration with mechanical engineers and firmware engineers. Our systems typically deliver very high currents to enable our vehicles to go faster and charge faster than any other car ever developed in the mass market. Power electronics is the core of every EV. Our systems control the flow of electrons from the wall to the battery and eventually to the motor.

-Design and development of power converters
-Collaborate with mechanical, layout, and firmware engineering teams to successfully develop, test, validate and manufacture power converters.
-Start to finish ownership of hardware - from specification to design, prototype, and manufacturing.

Required Skills
-BSEE degree in Electrical Engineering.
-4 or more years of relevant hands-on hardware experience in power converter (AC/DC, DC/DC & DC/AC) design.
-Strong understanding of power electronics topologies (AC/DC, DC/DC & DC/AC).
-Experience with high voltage power semiconductor selection (IGBTs, MOSFET's, and Diodes), gate drive and protection circuit design.
-Good understanding of switching waveforms, Semi-conductor losses and experience with loss modeling.
-Solid understanding of the theory and application of magnetics in inductors and transformers for power conversion.
-Familiar with schematic capture and power converter circuit simulation tools.
-Experience in supervision of PCB layout for minimal stray inductance and capacitance, placement strategies for better manufacturability, power/signal plane definition and EMC optimization.
-Proficiency with basic EE tools (Oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, Signal Generators etc.).

Preferred Skills
-MSEE or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent in experience and exceptional ability
-Awareness of UL and CE electrical safety requirements and EMC requirements relevant to the design of power
-Knowledge in environmental, reliability, and safety requirements for Automotive, Industrial & Residential applications.
-Knowledge of basic control theory and experience with embedded programming.
