Current Doubler choke

Answer/SolutionQUESTION: Does the current doubler choke require coupling between the windings, if so, how much coupling? If not, what is the reason they are wound on common core?
ANSWER: In the current doubler topology the two output inductors have no coupling. In our article and in the Excel design files we are suggesting using one pair of E cores with the two inductors on the outer legs, and the gaps in the outer legs only. Not having a gap in the middle leg will basically result in no significant coupling between inductors.
